12 Reasons To Choose Kodiak Island Resort

12 Great Reasons To Choose Kodiak Island Resort

Halibut in Kodiak and Larsen Bay are plentiful and range in size from small “chickens” to barn door sized in excess of 300 pounds. Typically most of our fish range between 20 and 60 pounds but very few days go by that at least one hundred pounder is not brought to the surface. Each of our guests is encouraged to take halibut home but our lodge practices safe, catch and release of our larger fish to protect and enhance the resource. Nobody leaves Kodiak Island Resort without fish; we just try and harvest the best and most plentiful on most occasions.

Upon touching down in Larsen Bay, we were greeted with smiles and eagerness to show my Dad and I a fantastic experience. Sitting down to a 5 star dinner first was nothing but phenomenal. Each day on the water was more beautiful and bountiful than the next hitting our catch limits almost every day. Captain and mate were very experienced and put us on the meat each day. Chef Jeremy is top notch and still full!! We will definitely be coming back and bringing everyone who is willing to make the trip!

Top notch facilities! Rob and Pablo of the boat crew were on top of their game, while Erika, Kitty and Chef Jeremy ensured our stay was 5 stars across the board. This turned out to be the trip of a lifetime that exceeded our expectations in every way! We are taking home our catches and cant wait to serve up some delicious fresh Alaskan fish! If you are looking for a fabulous trip, don't hesitate to try Bob and the Kodiak Island Resort, you won't be disappointed!

We had a great time catching (not fishing) for five days. All of the staff were great to work with. We couldn’t have caught so many fish without the help of our guide Captain Jim. Deck mate Pablo did all of the heavy lifting for us so we could catch over 50 lbs of fish for each. The dinner meals were absolutely amazing each night. Highly recommend this trip.

Lodge accommodations & food were great! 2 minute walk to the boats and the fishing was incredible with salmon, halibut, ling cod and rockfish. Caught lots of fish and large fish! Sightseeing combined with fishing included plenty of whales & porpoises, sea lion colonies, sea otters, and brown bears. Bob the owner had his crew pull out an electric fishing reel for my wife who was still recovering from shoulder surgery-that was a home run! Had one group that needed to leave early and the staff handled air and travel reservations in less than an hour resulting in same night departures. Fantastic visit in every way!!

When choosing the best Alaska fishing lodge, it is important to know the type of fish you are hoping to catch, because some species are region-specific. For example, if you are going on a fishing trip in Alaska and are looking to catch halibut, you should try and look for the fishing locales where trophy halibut are known to reside. Fishing in Kodiak and Larsen Bay Kodiak Island offers the highest population of trophy halibut of anywhere in Alaska. Anglers experience superior Alaska halibut fishing at Kodiak Island Resort due to the remoteness of the area, coupled with the close proximity of the Pacific Ocean’s northerly currents. An abundance of marine life is brought to the Kodiak area via the strong currents, and all of this food provides a generous food supply for halibut, and all species of salmon,  not to mention several varieties of whales.

Our remote luxury lodge is surrounded by the wilderness backdrop of the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, home to the world’s largest population of Brown Bears. Not only does Kodiak have the largest brown bear population, but  because of the abundant food supply they are the world’s largest brown bears. If you are looking for an incredible place to catch king or silver salmon then Alaska fishing is the perfect solution. In particular, our Kodiak Island fishing lodge is the perfect place for fishing addicts, and novices alike, from around the world.

Alaska has the world’s largest silver salmon population, and like everything else in Alaska they are big!
