July 4th Alaska Fishing Lodge, Kodiak Resort

Halibut fishing has been very good this summer. We have been getting daily limits of halibut up to 80 pounds every day. Lots of other species like yelloweye rockfish, black rockfish and good numbers of king salmon are also being caught daily right now.

For those who want more than just fish, we have crab traps available for guests who want to try their hand at competing with the “Deadliest Catch”. Pictured are Larsen Bay Tanner Crabs, often called snow crabs, are caught regularly by fisherman who target them. Fresh caught tanners are better eating than King Crab according to many of our guests who have tried both. Our anglers will bait and deploy our trap in the morning and retrieve it as they return from the day’s fishing outing. Often, when crabs are caught, our chef will prepare a fresh crab dinner that is often the highlight of their trip to Kodiak Island Resort.

Our boat is unsurpassed and one of the best fishing boats ever created. It is a 36 foot catamaran and features a 14 foot wide beam that provides a very smooth and comfortable ride. The boat is powered by a pair of new 300HP Yamaha outboards, to get you to the fishing grounds fast, is equipped with high tech commercial electronic fish locators and first class fishing tackle. The boat also features a heated cabin, comfortable seating, full sized bathroom and walk around fishing area that allows everyone plenty of room.
